Experiment with different ways of striking the key. That too is measurable by looking at the channel with the mic by the keyboard and seeing if you can see the sound where the key bottoms out. That's the latency, minus a fraction for the time between your knuckle striking the key and the key hitting the bottom sensor. Take a look at the resulting waveform in your favorite DAW and measure the time difference. Record yourself thwacking the key hard with your knuckle (or whatever makes a nice sharp sound without scratching the key). Set one mic close to your keyboard and one mic close to the speaker. Can't understand why latency would be different - only more noticeable.
